Landlord-Tenant contract. Should I have an original signed copy as well?
Does it mean that there should be 2 signed contracts? 1 signed by the landlord which I will also sign and send back to him and 1 that I will keep as my copy? My potential landlord is asking for a deposit, I haven’t met him nor seen the apartment in person yet (only in pictures). I am in UK and the flat is in France. I booked the flat from 8JUL but I won’t be in Paris till the 3rd of July due to visa entry date restrictions, which means that I cannot check the place out until after I arrive in France. I need to commit now because the flat might not be available anymore if I wait any longer. I’m dealing with a direct owner. He sent me a scanned copy of his passport and the contract so I can have a look and review it and i think it looks legit. Now, should I pay the deposit first or ask for the signed contract first?
Hi, yes there should be a fully signed copy for you and the landlord to keep once all parties have signed. Make sure you get one to keep on file and not a photocopy.
You need to get a contract first and look over it. Once you are 100% satisfied, then pay the deposit. WHen paying make sure he sends you a receipt or an email to confirm he has received payment.
